The only problem is the Caldera/SUSE version leaves zombies when network connections terminate. There are two schemes for solving this problem, info on the IIUG site. In the Red Hat version Informix has fixed that problem though so if you have glibc (libc6) that is the better release. The database is released along with ESQL/C (Embedded SQL in C) compiler and Jonathan Leffler has ported DBD/DBI Informix to Linux so you can use Perl. I believe there is a tcl/tk module also and you can use any ODBC client software and development tools. Art S. Kagel

That's not true to the best of my knowledge. The SE version does not allow you to create BLOB/CLOB fields in tables. . . . > Art S. Kagel

It is indeed true, that SE does not support BLOBS/CLOBS/ or SmartBLOBs, however, Juan asked if the Linux version of SE had any drawbacks or was in any way date limited. I answered that it was not a limited but a full version (no version of SE supports variable length data types). I also assumed that the drawbacks question related to SE on Linux -vs- SE on other platforms hence the mention of the zombie problem. In my interpretation of the question your response is nonsequitor, but I do see your interpretation as valid also. Art S. Kagel
