Java and Informix Dynamic Server 7.x

Hi friends! I am trying to do server-side java cgi programming to connect to I-ODS 7.x. Do you know how I can do that? I heard it is possible to use the jdbc-odbc bridge( intersolve or openlink's), but the performance is too slow, because of jdbc to odbc and odbc to jdbc convert. Who heard the (direct) jdbc api? and more happy if free Thanks in advance
