Jonathan Leffler is writing an "updater" which will be able to either update a row in table 2 from a select statement's result set or a file if the row exists or insert it if it does not exist. Unfortunately this utility is being written in ESQL/C. Perhaps if you asked REALLY nicely, since Jonathan developed the DBD, he might be willing to port the logic to a perl program. Personally I prefer a compiled executable but... Art S. Kagel
