How to verify if the user allowed to export/import a database?

Hi all, Normally I run the dbexport/dbimport as root or informix user. Do I have to grant full privilege as DBA for the user who will do export/import a database after Unix permissions? And where I can see if the user is allowed to do dbexport/dbimport a database? I'm trying to convert my knowledge in Oracle to Informix :-) Thank you for any idea... H.V
