Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.

Hello,
situation: I´m recompiling sources formerly developed on Siemens MIPS/RM
platforms with 4GL 4.1X developement tools and Online 5.x database
server. The new platform is an Alpha AXP Cluster with ISD 7.3X database
server and 7.2X developement tools.
Recompiling is fine. But the application doesn´t work as expected. What
happened:
INITIALIZE l_a1, l_a2 TO NULL
INPUT
l_a1, l_a2
WITHOUT DEFAULTS
FROM
sr_field.a1, sr_field.a2
AFTER FIELD a1
IF l_a1 < 0
THEN
DISPLAY "ERROR"
NEXT FIELD sr_field.a1
END IF
END INPUT
I typed in some value into the "a1" field and then RETURN. But l_a1 in
the AFTER FIELD clause remains NULL until i explicitly call GET_FLDBUF.
What is the explanation for the strange kind of behaviour. I´ve no idea
what i´m doing wrong.
Greetings, Joerg
