informix net with windows clients running dhcp

Hi folks, This may turn out to be a vague question - mostly because I don't have many details - I am not doing the work myself.... Anyway, we'll be connecting some windows nt clients using informix net (is that the name?) to a backed informix db running on an hp system. The initial setup of the client works fine except that the server seems to need the ip address of the client. All of my clients are given dynamic ip addresses using dhcp. When we tried the network informix connects, it didn't work. When we gave the client a static ip address and put it in the hosts file of the server, then a connection was made.
