Let's all please grow up. I enjoy a good flame war as much as the next person, but enough is enough. Oracle is a fabulous database for more reasons than can be discussed here. Informix sounds very good on paper, but the architecture is still fairly unproven. Therefore companies that are betting huge projects on it are taking a calculated risk that the architecture truly will hold up under pressure. For companies that refuse to use Oracle (their last Oracle rep was a jerk, their major competitor standardized on Oracle so they want to do something different), Informix looks like the next best thing to try. Most other decision makers I run into use Informix just to get Oracle at a lower price. When you make claims like "Informix is the only one" you are embarassing yourself and putting others who believe you at risk. PS - Tom Kyte is an extremely bright guy. Now that you have his attention, you'd better quit while you're behind. Looking forward to getting flamed for expressing my opinions.... Dan
