Functions & control keys not working

I was successful in re-compiling the prorgram however I encountered a slight problem because the functions & control keys w/c used to work before in HP-UX OS is not working on the Linux OS. In HP-UX, I was referring to a termcap file in order for this function keys to work. I've tried to copied the said file onto the Linux however it still doesn't work. Can anyone of you help me with this one as I do not know anything in Linux or can anyone of you provide me the file that I need to make those keys to work ?
