SCO and libsocket.a
Posted in 1995
We have just purchased ESQL/C to run with SE on our SCO Open Server Enterprise system. When we try to compile programs however, we get this message: ld libx.a: can't find library libsocket.a Informix says it is a problem for SCO to fix. SCO only offers libsocket.a in their TCP/IP Development System or as an EFS, both of which cost bucks. Since it appears that SCO thinks this file should only be part of the networking software, and we aren't running over a network, why does Informix require the presence of this file for compiles? Is this file really necessary for ESQL/C to run in a non-network environment, or should Informix remove the requirement or at least advertise that an extra-cost addon is required to use ESQL? Is there any help outside of spending more bucks? Tom Allred Systems Integration tallred@mercury.interpath.net
