Trapping Return Codes within a Stored Procedure.

We are using informix 7.21 on aix 4.1.5. Within a stored procedure, it seems we are unable to use the "sqlca" structure to get the sqlcode. Is this function inaccessible within stored procedures? If so, is there any other way to trap return codes? Thanks in advance, JP
