SunOS 5.7 IDS 9.40.UC4 I recently downloaded the latest version of Art Kagel's utils2_ak from IIUG. When trying to run the makefile I received an esql not found error for the "gcc esql ..." command. I thought that esql was installed with IConnect. What I see under $INFORMIXDIR after installing IConnect is a library and an include directory for esql, but no esql binary/executable. When I looked at our old 9.30 $INFORMIXDIR, I saw the executable esql, as well as the library and include directories. Using the 9.30 directories, I was able to successfully run the makefile for utils2_ak. However, since we're really running on 9.40 now, I need to build everything against 9.40. What am I missing? Thanks, Gary Andrus

Nope - I-Connect is the run-time components; ClientSDK contains the stuff needed to do development, such as the ESQL/C compiler. > What I see under $INFORMIXDIR after installing IConnect is a library > and an include directory for esql, but no esql binary/executable. > > When I looked at our old 9.30 $INFORMIXDIR, I saw the executable esql, > as well as the library and include directories. Then that system must have had ClientSDK installed - possibly as well as I-Connect (though CSDK makes I-Connect redundant). > Using the 9.30 directories, I was able to successfully run the > makefile for utils2_ak. I failed to step back and look for the other similarity, which was ClientSDK.
Is ClientSDK a seperate product, which I have to buy separate ? When I buy Informix 9.4 (Server) (I have already), do I have to buy CSDK as well, as far as I see, only Connect is included in the CD. My problem is, to use Informix with PHP, my problem is not, having CSDK, but as I become aware, I must have CSDK as well. only, because I want to use PHP. ?? Is there a Download at IBM of CSDK ?
