Defunct processes...

We have an Esql/C application which is causing defunct processes to hang around and this seems to be degrading performance on our system. We have checked the code and it all seems to be okay. I should explain that this C code is compiled as OpenSQL under Ingres, and is going through a CA-Enterprise Ingres to Informix Gateway, just to complicate matters. We recently upgraded from 7.11 to 7.14 and although the number of defunct processes has gone down, we are still having problems. We have only experienced this on our production systems, our development and test systems have shown no sign of this behaviour. I realise this may seem a little vague but we are currently trying to diagnose the problem. Any ideas would be welcome. I guess I am trying to find out if other people have come across this with Informix preventing the processes from exiting cleanly. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
