Product: IDS 7.31TC6 on Windows NT 4 ON-Bar with ISM 2.20 102 logical logs 10 Go of data (26 chunks) My customer has two sites : 1 production site and 1 backup site and I help him to put a Disaster Recovery Planning. On the backup site, we configured a server with IDS (same release) and the application. We are performing an imported backup with ON-Bar for the data. When I performed the first test, all was working well. But when during the second test, I had to wait a long time (2 hours) due to the salvage logs. Is there anyway to bypass this phase or do I have to erase the reserved pages or the logical log chunks ? JB Jean Briere Cogicia 14, rue de Rouen 75019 Paris Tel: +33(0)140059969 Fax:
Hi,
if you don't want the logical log salvage to happen when using ON-Bar,
use the following commands for the restore :
onbar -r -p # physical restore only
onbar -r -l # logical restore only
The "onbar -r -p" will not do log salvage. It assumes it has been done
manually before ...
When the "onbar -r -p" has finished you have to issue the
"onbar -r -l" to get the logical restore and logical recovery done.
Wiping out the disks of rootdbs and logical location of course
would prevent log salvage just as well.
I've no idea how that can be done on Windows NT, though ...
Do whichever you prefer ... :)
Regards,
Martin
