Rate of insertion

Hi Informixers, I would like to know if there is any way by using onstat or such utilites to monitor the number of rows inserted into a table within a given time interval. I am performing huge insert operations and would like to know how many inserts were performed. I tried with shellscripts doing something like select count(*) from table;but it is not really helpful as this operation itself takes couple of seconds. I also tried oncheck -pT database:tablename which is also slow. I also I would like to have continuous output; Is there a tool which does this? Thanks Gururaj
