The machine running ESQL/C just needs the runtime or Connect product installed so it can get access to the database when needed for testing. Even if you are not testing on the development machine you need Connect installed for certain message files. Connect is free so... Just install Connect and set the INFORMIXSERVER variable to point to the server machines and INFORMIXDIR to the Informix ESQL/C and Connect install directory. Art S. Kagel
