An UPDATE of zero rows is not an error, though it evidently isn't what you wanted. You can inspect the sqlca structure in ESQL/C; I don't know how the equivalent information is handled in ODBC. You can also look for SQLNOTFOUND (100) if you are running on a MODE ANSI database, if my memory serves me correctly. On a non-ANSI database, you simply get the zero rows processed, no error detected notification.
