For the development of base classes, yes that is true. Once you have dropped on the objects you want, sack the .wif and edit the 4gl directly. For the development of 'consumer' windows (i.e. the window that will use the base class) we quite happily develop in the window painter and change the class name of the window and various other objects in the properties dialog box. Extra arguments that could be passed to the constructor have to be passed to an 'initialise' method called in constructor extension or start event or else, in some cases we have a base class that defines extra arguments to the constructor and then we derive several base classes from that in which the additional arguments are provided with suitable defaults. Because the code editor in NE2.11 is so poor we have the concept of an 'extension' file in which all the methods that you would have done in pre-body are placed. For user.wif we would then have user.4gl and user.4gh generated by window painter and userx.4gl created with text editor. userx.4gl contains an include of user.4gh. > > -- > Mike Ripley ---------------------------------------------------------------------- David Paulo, InForm Group Ltd.,PO Box 1444, Wellington, New Zealand.
