There have been lots of posts on the year 2000 issues here in c.d.i.
that you will easily find via a search on http://www.dejanews.com
It all boils down using date or datetime only for date oriented
columns and allways using 4 digits for the year on the screen. There
is no way arround 4 digts on the screen however cramped your screen
may get.
: Any suggestions and tips on the issues to be looked

:possible.

You gain no benefit at all from moving to 5.0 first.
You should expect having to export your database (using dbexport) and
importing it again in 7.x. It may be possible to do an in place
upgrade but I doubt that. I assume you will also move to a new machine
and new (version at least) OS. In that case it's even more likely you
have to export/import.
Make sure you get at least version 7.22.x. This has most of the bugs
ironed out, and have OnBar and other new facilities you will want.
If 7.22 isn't available for your platform 7.14 is your only other
option as I understand it to avoid some relatively serious bugs that
you would have to know the details of working arround. However if 7.22
isn't available you may have selected the wrong platform and should
possibly evaluate your choise again.
You don't mention what kind of applications you have. 4GL, ESQL/C,
ISQL.
4GL: You need a reasonably new version (6.03.x or newer) and will have
few if any problems. There was a thread a month or two ago about the
minor differenses that do exist. You have to recompile.
ESQL/C: Don't know much about this, but you do need the latest version
and must recompile as far as I understand.
ISQL: You need ROWID on the tables so you either have to use non
fragmented tables, or if you do want to fragment you must create them
with rowid.
:Any help in this matter is appreciated.
