Ontape and STDIO

Just for information if people are interested :-) The system is a 4way HP with direct storage, ontape via STDIO and gzip to disk is giving us 40GB an hour. Throw the data over a 100Mhz cross over to another identical server via rsh and gzip'ing at the remote end and we get over 70GB per hour.
