Transaction Processing using ODBC
Posted in 1997
Hi ! I need some help from someone who has used Informix & Tuxedo. I have an application that uses Informix - CLI (Basically ODBC) to connect to an Informix -7.x database. Now I have a need to use a Tuxedo transaction manager to control all the transaction processing. I know that Informix supports Tuxedo intimately, & that they use the ESQL/C api to accomplish this. Switching over to ESQL/C would make me redo the whole application. Is there anyway that I can use Informix-CLI & still accomplish the task of using a tuxedo transaction manager. Interesting note: Most people would say there is no way to get a XA connection via odbc, But this may be accomplished using the following odbc call with the corresponding parameter. ODBC 2 SQLSetConnectOption ( hdbc, fOption, vParam) where fOption = SQL_COPT_SS_ENLIST_IN_XA vParam = TRUE / FALSE Has the same effect of BEGIN WORK / COMMITWORK ODBC 3 SQLSetConnectAttr (hdbc, attribute, value, stringlen) where attribute = SQL_ATTR_ENLIST_IN_XA value = TRUE / FALSE So the BIG Question is Does INFORMIX-CLI Drivers support this Option For SQLSetConnect Option ??? A Million Thanks for Anyone who can answer these .. Chaminda Peries Dynasty Technologies Inc. Houston, TX.
