Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
Please post your results. I did not have any success with that approach.
Specifically, I was doing a series of unloads from 4GL and needed to
dynamically change the DBDATE. I ended up calling a subsequent program
via a shell script which set the DBDATE accordingly (very ugly and slooooowwwww!).

Berton,
Try writing a c function that calls putenv("DBDATE=whatever") and then
link that
into you 4gl. Bear in mind though that when you run this program the new
DBDATE
will not be available to the calling shell.
All the best, Pete Harris

How do you change the value of let4s say DBDATE from within a 4GL?
