Wierd problem
Posted in 1995
We have a home-grown, UNIX-based configuration management (CM) system built using shell scripts, SCCS and make. We use this system not only to configure and build software loads, but also to build test databases. This allows each engineer to easily build a test database for the specific feature to be tested. Lately, we've encountered a problem whereby the building of a test database hangs. Re-tries also hang - at exactly the same point. Logical logs are not full, ovbuff = 0, nobody's waiting for any locks. However, the hung process is sometimes waiting for a latch and other times waiting for a buffer. Being relatively new to Informix, I don't know what else to check. Anybody recognize these symptoms and know what to do about it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
