The big problem is he seems to be performing index builds without
PDQPRIORITY or PSORT_DBTEMP/PSORT_NPROCS so only a single thread in a
single CPU VP is performing the build and it is pinned to a single CPU
by affinity. This is a worst case schenario. Set MAX_PDQPRIORITY to
100, set PDQPRIORITY for the index build as high as you dare without
starving other processes, set PSORT_NPROCS=40, set PSORT_DBTEMP to as
many file systems as you can which have significant free space (at least
three for best performance). NOW try that index build and watch it
eat the machine and fly!
