Re: Informix client?
Posted in 1998
From the Informix Web Site: "INFORMIX-CLI, based on Microsoft's ODBC 2.5 specifications, combines the benefits of standards-based SQL, the power and flexibility of a native C-call interface, and the openness of the widely accepted ODBC API specification (see following sections on ODBC). With INFORMIX-CLI, ODBC-compliant applications will be able to access Informix data sources, thus providing an industry open standard for accessing Informix data. INFORMIX-CLI is comprised of a library of C-language function calls that support SQL statements. Applications written with INFORMIX-CLI eliminate the need for embedded SQL statements. Instead, SQL statement strings are passed toINFORMIX-CLI functions as arguments. Within an INFORMIX-CLI application it is possible to: request a connection or session with an Informix database; send SQL requests to the database; define storage areas and data formats for the results of requests; request SQL results; process results; report errors; perform transaction control; and disconnect from the database. INFORMIX-CLI comes in versions for UNIX, Windows NT, Windows 95, and Windows 98.These versions are consistent in terms of the structure of the initialization file that the drivers use, the functions, the SQL grammar, and the error message formats." Hope it helps.
