No sweat - that's what this is all about. I hear a lot of talk about NT taking over a lot of places. Obviously something I should look closer at. Who knows in my next life I may very well get a chance to. :-) > they have done to gain a real presence at the top end. Great. If Informix were a bit bigger I would say no conflict - but then they might get too big and run into the IBM situation (RS6000 competing with AS400). There is still an issue there of where do you use the resources to best effect. If I can sell the fortune 500 (who are going to by 300 licenses each) big machine SW at $50K each vs going the small business route where I'm going to sell 30,000 at $5K all told - which do you think I'm going to opt for? (say 100 (of the 500) * 300 * 50 ==> 1,500,000K vs 150,000K) - just a guesstimate and maybe way off base, but then I'm sure you'll tell me if I am. :-). Anyway - where are you going to apply these resources? cheers j. _____________________________________________________________________________ Jack Parker - Hewlett Packard, DMD/IS Boise, Idaho, USA jparker@boi.hp.com <--- New address Currently on loan to PLD/PE _____________________________________________________________________________ If anything can go wrong, fix it.
