I need to write a program which will perform some UNIX/system (root) level functions, such as creating new user account, as well as database functions. I would like to prevent granting "root" any Database permissions. I need to be able to read table entries into a cursor, setup new accounts and then delete entries from the table. I have tried using the seteuid() system call to change the effective user ID to a valid database user, and then back to root. It seems that the Informix database keys off of the "real" UNIX uid instead of the "effective" UNIX ID. Is there anyway to change this default behavior? Or does anyone have any other suggestions.
