Input/Output Operations

Anyone know a command that will give the Input/output operations/second(IOPs)
that an Informix 11.5 instance is being asked to handle?
Please understand that what I'm asking for is different than the read/write
times returned per chunk from an onstat -g iof command. That command gives
average times based on the amount of time it takes to process an I/O request,
rather than the number of I/O requests being thrown at a database, with some
setting in queues for I/O wait, etc.
My boss is asking me for an IOPs number to give to the SAN team, so they will
know what speed disks to put our database chunks on. Chunks are on cooked zfs
file system on virtual SAN storage. Thanks!!
This just does the top 20, you can remove the first 20 to get all.
The write_ops and read_ops is what the SAN geek needs.
dbaccess sysmaster <<EOF
-- select chknum, sum(reads+pagesread+writes+pageswritten)
select first 20 name[1,20], chknum, pageswritten, writes write_ops,substr(fname,length(fname)-8,10) chunkname
from syschkio, syschunks, sysdbspaces
where chknum = chunknum
and writes > 0
-- and name not like "%phys%"
-- and name not like "%log%"
-- and name not like "%temp%"
and syschunks.dbsnum = sysdbspaces.dbsnum
order by 4 desc;
select first 20 name[1,20], chknum, pagesread , reads read_ops,substr(fname,length(fname)-8,10) chunkname
from syschkio, syschunks, sysdbspaces
where chknum = chunknum
and reads > 0
-- and name not like "%phys%"
-- and name not like "%log%"
-- and name not like "%temp%"
and syschunks.dbsnum = sysdbspaces.dbsnum
order by 4 desc;
EOF
Fair estimate: take your peak logical log filling rate and double it.
BTW ZFS is not the best choice for filesystem chunks because of because of
the copy on write feature.
