Commenting a dbload command file

As I'm auto-generating a set of dbload command files, I would like to put comments into them to help out the ops boys if anything goes wrong (date and time of generation, etc). I've tried all the 'this is a comment, ignore the rest of the line' syntax I can think of; --, #, but informix tries to process it and falls over with an error.
