The type of server you have doesn't matter to the client, but, you need at least the following to run an ESQL/C app: List your versions of - Informix server - ESQL/C From this determine your client "connect" product. I had to call Informix to get the proper Informix-Connect software for the target OS using my version of ESQL/C. Install the Connect software on the client. Run Selnet32.exe. Under the Host Information tab, configure the Server Host, Informix user name, and password. Under the Server Information tab, configure the db server name, select the host, select the protocol, and enter the db's service name. Under the Environment tab, make sure that the INFORMIXDIR and the INFORMIXSERVER variables are set properly. Make sure that you enter the host's ip address in the hosts file and the Informix db service name and port number are entered in the services file. These files are usually in the windows directory. If you enter these on the last line of the file, be sure to add a few enters (cr/lf). If you don't, Informix will not connect and it will drive you crazy - been there, done that. You will need to make sure/add the informix\\bin directory to your path. Copy your app. Fire away.
