I need a refresher for establishing connectivity from a PC using odbc. What is the correct entry for the sqlhosts file? Also, mods added to "/etc/services", "/etc/hosts" , and dbserveralias in onconfig? Is it pretty much the same for solaris as it is for HP? TIA, Darren

You need a working IDS server that can be connected to via the network.
If you already have that, you should be able to configure the PC so that
the ODBC DSN (data source name) connects to it.
sqlhosts - RTFM
idsservername oltlitcp machinename servicename
etc/services - RTFM
servicename 9876/tcp servicealias # comment
More or less the same for Solaris and HP.
