Creating Lock conflict situation in Informix 7.3

I am trying to test our code which is monitoring Informix Locks and Event logs on Aix 4.3. Can anyone out there give me SQLs to run inorder to create a lock conflict in the informix database ,the lock conflict should stay for a while so that I can test my product.Thanks

I usually prepare cursors 'for update' in 4gl, and then step through the code while in the debugger.
