HELP on INFORMIX 4GL & FORMS (termcap)

I am seeking help from people who have successfully developed and implemented character based INFORMIX applications on HP 700/92,96 character terminals using INFORMIX 4GL & FORMS. The trouble I'm facing now is the terminal emulation capability of INFORMIX 4GL & FORMS. My preference is to use the native HP terminal mode. It did not work well so I tried vt100 instead. vt100 offers better result but it has other problem which hinder my development. Let me illustrate the environment/hardware settings & the problems here: HP TERMINAL MODE ================ Enviroment settings ------------------- INFORMIXTERM=termcapTERMCAP=/usr/informix/etc/termcap TERM=hp (I tried hp2626a, hp2645, hp2621) Terminal hardware settings -------------------------- Set to HP terminal mode. Problem ------- * Windows with border did not appear correctly. Border was drawn using regular character instead of graphics character so it looks somewhat ugly. Also, the current input field in a window with border overwrites part of the border! * Function keys did not function as expected. The default PREVIOUS(F3) and NEXT(F4) keys, etc did not work at all. Other function keys which are not assigned with default actions are not programmable as well. In short, function keys are virtually unusable. VT100 TERMINAL MODE =================== INFORMIXTERM=termcapTERMCAP=/usr/informix/etc/termcap TERM=vt100 Terminal hardware settings -------------------------- Set to emulate vt100 Result ------ * Windows with border comes out beautifully.
