For versions < 7.3 only brute force will do:
SELECT *
FROM mytable
WHERE mycol1 matches "[Tt][Ee][Ss][Tt]";
-OR-
SELECT *
FROM mytable
WHERE mycol1 IN ("test", "Test","TEst","TESt"................);
