paranoid IDS 9.4 oninit -iy question

Hi everyone. I know this may sound wierd but I am going to ask a question I
already know the answer to...just being a little paranoid here.
I have an aix unix server that currently houses 26 separate Informix IDS 9.4
instances-all physically distinct..with different physical raw spaces,
separate onconfig files, etc.
I need to create a new Informix instance-the 27th. I have not done this since
I took a class 5 years ago.
My paranoid question is...as long as I create the new onconfig correctly that
points to all new physical files, and use newly created raw chunks...and
correctly set INFORMIXSERVER to point to the new instance name and ONCONFIG to
reference the new onconfig file...when I execute the oninit -iy there is NO
WAY I could harm the existing 26 informix instances? Is that correct? I
know..I am paranoid.
One other thing...I know Informix will allocate 3 logical logs automatically
when oninit -iy is executed. Traditionally the dba will add some additional
logical logs but the delete the 3 that informix creates automatically. Is that
actually necessary to do? I mean is there any harm in letting the 3 logical
logs created by Informix continue to exist?
Thanks.
Will
As long as ROOTPATH, INFORMIXSERVER, SERVERNUM, DBSERVERNAME, DBSEVERALIASES
are distinct and the chunk links aren't crossed under the hood you are
safe.
You can live with those initial 3 logs if you don't mind that they will be
in the root chunk.

Physically damage - with the criteria given (new physical files and
chunks) - you will not damage the existing systems.
Logically - well, the performance might be a little worse. Yet
another IDS instance means your CPU and memory is being shared between
more instances, so there is less resource available for each instance.
But this is presumably something that was factored into the design.

There's no harm in letting them exist; the main reason for deleting
them is when you have a dbspace allocated for logical logs, you want
to remove the logs from rootdbs.
