Re: IDS on AIX 5.2 Offsets? lv types?

Neil, the reason why the offset matters to me is that I am discovering sites with offsets of 0, 1, 2, and 4 pages. I need to know what the minimum offset should be for satisfactory working. It is obviously a problem if the offset is set to 0, but is an offset to 1 any guarantee that we won't experience a problem. Also, any ideas on quick ways to change the offset of a chunk? I have a particularly Grotty problem at one of the larger mission critical 24x7 sites where the only chunk with an offset of 0 is the first chunk of rootdbs. And they definitely will encounter the problem as they intend to roll out the existing machine and roll in a faster machine but using the same disks. I have thought of doing an archive and then a restore to a different structure using IDS 9.4 but that would involve a large amount of downtime. That is unless somebody can give me a way of restoring rootdbs without restoring the data. regards Malcolm --- Neil Truby <neil.truby@ardenta.com> wrote: > > "malcolm weallans" <malcolm.iiug@btopenworld.com> > wrote in message > news:cel0f5$32f$1@news.xmission.com... > > > > Murray, > > I hate to disagree but I have discovered > information > > in the IBM web-site that refers to the Logical > volume > > control block (Lvcb) being 512 bytes. > > Why does it matter?
