RE: RAID vs Informix-Mirroring

One of the pro's for Informix (not performance related though) - If you let Informix do the mirroring, and a disk fails, your instance / dbspace / chunk stays up. If the hardware does the mirroring, Informix doesn't know, and if it detects any error from the hardware / opsys, the instance / dbspace / chunk could go down (be taken off-line) -----Original Message----- From: Markus Bschorer [mailto:mb@worxbox.com] Sent: Tuesday, October 21, 2003 4:20 PM To: informix-list@iiug.org Subject: RAID vs Informix-Mirroring Hi guys, what is better for performance: Using RAID-1 for the Harddisk, containing the DBChunks or let IDS do the mirroring over not raided Harddisks? Thanks for your answers! Bye Markus sending to informix-list
