Secondly, even if there was : an incompatibility, we already have versions ported on SCO 3.2v4.0 (4.10.UG1 : and 5.00.UD3 OnLine). Perhaps, what they meant was there was a bug in an older : version (ported on 3.2v2) and the newer release is available only for 3.2v4.0. : What version are you running now? : I am not in the habit of making up problems with Infomix software! But please let me explain what happened. 1. We currently run OnLine under SCO 3.2.2. We perform a level 0 archive each night, and have not had cause to perfrom a full restore. 2. We are trying to move to a box with faster disks. When we build this new box we installed SCO3.2.4 - the latest version of SCO at that time. Tests then showed the archive/restore corruption problem. 3. When we reported this the initial response was basically disbelief. After repeating our tests, as requested, it was eventually decided that our current port of OnLine was for SCO3.2.2 and needed to be changed for the SCO3.2.4 port of OnLine. We have ordered this and will re-test. The OnLine discs labels only state SCO Unix. They do not specify a particular version of SCO - that is encoded in a port number. Whereas I would have expected to change OnLine if moving from SysVR3 to SysVR4 I was surprised that moving from SCO3.2.2 to SCO3.2.4 could cause us grief. Of course we will only know if this works when we test it - next week I hope. I can't help thinking that when Informix discovered they had to produced a port specific verion of their product that this infomation could have been disseminated though their distribution channels and then on to the end users. Perhaps it was and I should be complaining to my supplier. It took them a week to find out once I reported the problem. -- Paul Mahoney, X-Act Solutions Limited smail: 20 Shipley Lane, Cooden, Bexhill-on-Sea, East Sussex, TN39 3SR email: ptm@xact.demon.co.uk ... pmahoney@cix.compulink.co.uk phone: +44 424 3 6368
