HELP REQUESTED IN REPORTING A BUG TO INFORMIX FOR C4GL 4.10.UE2
Posted in 1993
I got 4.1 4glrds and c4gl recently. I carry full support on rds and basic on c4gl (I do dev in rds and figured I'd find the bugs there.) I found a bug in c4gl that was not in rds and tried to report it. Guess what? I can't report bugs without full support! I'm entitled to bug fixes, but I can't report the bugs I need fixed. I can get a core dump with 20 lines of code and they can't take the time to try it out. I'd like to request that someone out there in netland with full support try this out and report the bug for me. Thanks in advance. john (john%elsouth@concert.net) PS: I, and I believe most customers, would appreciate some sort of explanation from Informix for why this policy is in place. To me, this says that Informix takes no responsibility for its code unless you pay them to be responsible. When I looked at the new basic vs full support agreement I thought it would work like this: No support: No upgrades, no bug fixes, no bug reporting, no tech assistance Basic Support: Upgrades, bug fixes, bug reporting, no tech assistance. Full Support: Upgrades, bug fixes, bug reporting, tech assistance. A suggested compromise: Basic support customers are allowed to call in bug reports. If it is the customer's fault, they get billed time and materials. If it is Informix's fault, no billing takes place. The point is, it is bad business for Informix to not allow reporting of bugs they are responsible for. It frustrates the customers and results in lower quality code due to bugs not getting reported in a timely fashion. ------------------- CODE SEGMENT --------------------------------------------- {PROGRAM ERROR REPORT.
