A user running IDS 7.31.UD6 on AIX with the JDBC 2.21.JC5 driver under WebSphere 5.0.2 reported that after taking the instance offline and back online, the Java application would not reconnect; only restarting WAS restored access. He asked whether a newer or correct JDBC driver/fix pack existed. The only reply questioned whether the driver was really at fault, asking what error appeared and suggesting the issue lay with stale pooled connections, since app servers can be configured to validate/test connections. No resolution is recorded.

Hi all,
I still haven't found what I'm luking for .....
You remembered the U2' song, right ? not too bad !
Well, I trying to use IDS 7.31 databases in RS/6000 P630 and F50 boxes
running in AIX 5.2 and 4.3.3 with JAVA connection JDBC. I found in IBM
internet site the version: JDBC.2.21.JC5.tar
It connects well, but when I take off-line the IDS instance, teke it
on-line again and try to use the application (java) to access
database, it does not meke a new connection.
I have to stop WAS 5.02 server and start it again to work properly !!
PLEASE:
Have somebody knew about other (or right) versions of JDBC or some fix
pack to update it ??
All informations are thankful !!

Why do you think there is a problem with JDBC driver?
What error do you get? Are you using a pool of connections? Other AS
have options to test the connections either at specified intervals or
when giving a specific database connection to a client request.
