Outputting rows in fixed length format

I've been asked to provide an extract from an Informix table for import into a non-Informix system. It's easy enough to provide a delimited file using UNLOAD TO.... But the requirement is actually to provide a non-delimited, fixed length record for each row. Any ideas on whether this is possible and, if so, how it might be done? Thanks Neil
