Keep in mind that SCO UNIX covers a wide range of usability, from a 386SX running a user or two to a Systempro or DEC or Wyse multiprocessor 486 running hundreds of users. Perhaps you are being quoted based on unlimited-user licensing. >Informix UK said it would cost about 500-600 pounds to upgrade >to V4.0, but that we HAD to buy maintenance before we would >upgrade (over 1,000 pounds). As I understand it (based on U.K. info from April), maintenance-holders pricing for major upgrades (e.g. version 1.XX.XX or 2.XX.XX to 4.00.UXX) get an 85% discount off new-purchase price. Minor upgrades (e.g. 4.0 to 4.1) and bugfix releases (e.g. 4.00.UG2 to 4.00.UH1) are free with standard maintenance. >Pete Miles uaa1006@dircon.co.uk -- Alan Denney aland@informix.com {pyramid|uunet}!infmx!aland Disclaimer: These opinions are mine alone.
