Is there any problem after installing NT SP4 on the computer having Informix Dynamic Server? Some friends tell me - "Informix does not work any more". Is it true and is there any fix for that ? Thanks ahead Ivan Krivobarski
You need 7.3 TC7. Anything before will not work. Aha, well, I know absolutely nothing about informix products really as this
is the first one I've tried to use but...
I've just spent a day trying to install IDS Universal server 9.14.TC5 on a
box patched to SP4, it got to the end of the setup, where it's about to
initialise the disk spaces and stayed there, for 5 hours with 1% cpu
activity and only about 8M of RAM in use for that process. Eventually it
suggested that I should run oninit -iy or start the service with -iy (same
thing I think) - which resulted in exactly the same behaviour.
Also, I noted that the onaudit command line program caused an Application
Error.
Great.
I got a similar machine and installed NT4 server patched to SP3 and
experienced no problems at all with the setup process, made some tables and
tried a few queries and it all worked fine. A quick search of the informix
web site didn't show it as being documented let alone patched, maybe I'm
searching the wrong bit of the site (the navigation of which "has room for
improvement"). I'll be submitting this (again) to informix on Monday.

Anyway, you need a version which is certified for NT4.SP4. The info should be available on the Informix web site. -- Jonathan Leffler (jleffler@informix.com, jleffler@earthlink.net) Guardian of DBD::Informix v0.60 -- see http://www.perl.com/CPAN #include <disclaimer.h>
