In addition to all other responces you have got there is now also the Informix CLI. This is a call level interface that may be used with any language that can call C-functions. Although it is relatively new it may also be usefull for you. This call level interface follows the ODBC call level interface but I think it is now also an ANSI standard or at least becomeing one. Be aware that this is not only available on a PC client (under Windows), but also directly on your Unix server.
