Re: Dialing pagers

Hi! I asked abt this recently and got some replies. Most people recommended SPATCH, an application that runs on most flavours of UNIX. Check out the 30-day trial at: http://www.unidirect.com but be prepared for any resulting sale calls. In the end I didn't have to get the program since my pager company (as do most pager companies) have email addresses associated with each pager, so all I need to do is have my UNIX script contact them if needed (I wrote an alarm script that checks for certain trouble conditions and emails IT staff and pagers if problems arise). Check your pager company to see if they have this service. Most are free (I think) but if demand is great and competition is not, then they may charge an additional fee for this service. If they do offer it, then you could write a simple program to do what you want; all you'd need is a flat file or database containing the names of the people, their pager numbers, and their associated email address.
