Well, I'm sure the Tech Pubs people (and we pseudo-Pubs people) appreciate that... but there are some caveats... certain behaviors sometimes had to change for overall consistency's sake. The net result of this is that a collection of Release Note entries accumulates over time, and the aggregate differs from the manual contents in a few key areas. The solution? Last year, I worked with a contract tech writer to assemble these bits and pieces into updated documentation. Unfortunately, I lost my fight to have the 4GL manuals republished as a combined 4.1/6.0 version, so we instead had to come up with an updated 4.1 4GL Supplement (which in turn modifies the 4.0 4GL manuals, which contain the now-long- obsolete 4.0 servers' SQL syntax... yuck!) and a new 6.0 4GL Supplement. The same was done for ISQL. I strongly recommend that serious 4GL/ISQL users get the new Supplement versions: Title Part # I-4GL Reference Manual Supplement Version 4.1 000-7830 I-4GL Reference Manual Supplement Version 6.0 000-7829 I-SQL Reference Manual Supplement Version 4.1 000-7025A I-SQL Reference Manual Supplement Version 6.0 000-7772A -- Alan Denney aland_at_informix.com yosemite_at_netcom.com Speaking from, but not for, Informix Platform Engineering "My opinions may have changed, but not the fact that I am right." -- Ashleigh Brilliant
