D4GL License and changing network cards
Posted in 1999
(This question have been asked before, but it was around New Year..) I wish to know to what exactly license information depends on, on NT. I have NT laptop with 1 development license, and IDS 7.3. I have changed my network PCMCIA card, and IP address. I need to change network cards every few days, depending on the network I work on. Same goes for IP address. I also would need to change domain name occasionally. Manual talks only about not changing FGLDIR. It looks to me that it is at least physical network address, since changing back the IP address did not help: C:\\PRG\\CSI\\Max_400\\gprog>fglrun n12 ERROR(6016):Cannot get information for license (Error 00B017). Check your environment and the license (run "fglWrt -a see"). C:\\PRG\\CSI\\Max_400\\gprog>fglwrt -a see SYS ERROR(-6042,17):File exists Incorrect license information. Verify if a license is installed. Do I have to go to registration web site each time I change the network card? What else should I not change? When I run the license manager, enter serial number and serial key, and installation number is generated, but I do NOT enter installation key and click on OK, I receive the message stating that I have installed a 30 day license. But I still receive the same error messages when I try to use fglrun. Is maybe something else wrong? Funny part is that if I insert the network card with witch the original installation was made together with the new card, everything is fine. This is the output of ipconfig.exe: Windows NT IP Configuration Host Name . . . . . . . . . : armada.csi.co.nz DNS Servers . . . . . . . . : 202.36.193.2 202.36.193.31 Node Type . . . . . . . . . : Broadcast NetBIOS Scope ID. . . . . . : IP Routing Enabled. . . . . : Yes WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . : No NetBIOS Resolution Uses DNS : Yes Ethernet adapter CBE8: Description . . . . . . . . : Xircom CardBus Ethernet 10/100 Adapter Physical Address. . . . . . : 00-80-C7-F9-73-E2 DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . : No IP Address. . . . . . . . . : 202.36.194.139 Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway . . . . . . : 202.36.194.11 Ethernet adapter CEM561: Description . . . . . . . . : Xircom CreditCard Ethernet 10/100 + Modem 56 PC Card Physical Address. . . . . . : 00-80-C7-F9-73-E2 DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . : No IP Address. . . . . . . . . : 202.36.194.140 Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway . . . . . . : 202.36.194.11 CEM561 is original adapter, CBE8 is new: THEY BOTH HAVE SAME PHYSICAL ADDRESS (I did this in registry, manually)!! Original IP address was 202.36.194.139. I changed IP address on CEM561 only because NT cannot have same IP addresses on the adapters at the same time. Now, license is ok: C:\\PRG\\CSI\\Max_400\\gprog>fglwrt -a see Development license 'FJC#K100643' with 1 runtime user(s). Now, if I unplug CEM561, fglrun still works. I reboot. Dead again. Even if I change IP address to the CBE8 to 202.36.194.140, FGLRUN is dead. What else should I make identical, to be able to switch network cards?
