Informix 4.10 - Problems

I initially posted some problems I was having with a recent upgrade to MSDOS Informix 4.1 (from 2.1). It seems that Informix MSDOS doesn't allow floats and internally converts all columns designated as a float to a decimals. This explains why I was getting kicked out of the pstartsql server (you can't add decimals like floats). Why doesn't Informix use floats? What surprises me is that I received ONLY 2 responses: 1.
