Yes. It's called Informix SE and comes from Informix. It runs well on Red Hat Linux. Start at http://www.inxutil.com to find out how to install it. It isn't an officially supported configuration, but it does run well and is used in mission critical applications by large companies. The version for SCO Unix ver. 3.2.4.2 or OpenServer 5.0.x both run. Some also seems to have the version for Unixware running. It's also possible to run OnLine version 5.x and some seem to have been able to run version 7.x on Linux. I do however not know if anyone are using any of these versions in serious applications or only for testing/developing. For database access you might want to look into the JDBC, UDBC and/or ODBC drivers from OpenLink (http://www.openlinksw.com). UDBC is essentially ODBC (or ANSI CLI - Call Level Interface) on Unix for programming in C or other languages while JDBC is for Java of course which should run very well on Linux. You do not use the Linux version of the database agent, but the one made for the operating system you bought the Informix engine for. We are hoping that Informix will also do an official port of their products to Linux. >Still believing in the tooth fairy and wishing that >there really was a Santa Claus, > >Max Pyziur >pyz@panix.com Nils Myklebust NM Data AS Norway E-mail: Nils.Myklebust@nmdata.com FAQ at: http://www.iiug.org/techinfo/faq/faq_top.html (Now with ODBC info under "Third party products".)
