DG Unix Kernel parameters
Posted in 1996
Hi, 12-Jan-1996 I need some help, because I am not a Unix kernel expert. I have a Data General AViiON Unix machine (OnLine client). On this machine a lot of programs are started/stopped every second. A lot of the programs are 4gl clients which, connects to a SUN 2000E server. Which kernel parameters are the most important when the number of starting/stopping processes are very very high ? I have in this mail a handful of the kernel parameters which are set up to default values. I think, that some of them could be changed to get more out of the client DG machine, but I need some expert advise: HDESLIM cf_cm_hard_descriptor_limit 1024 SDESLIM cf_cm_soft_descriptor_limit 64 FREEINODE cf_ffm_in_use_to_released_inode_ratio 4 MAXBUFAGE cf_fs_max_buffer_age_in_seconds 60 MAXSYSBUFAGE cf_fs_max_system_buffer_age_in_seconds 0 MAXSLICE cf_mts_time_slice_milliseconds 100 LIFO cf_mts_ts_do_lifo FREERNODE cf_nfm_released_ratio 4 MAXGLOBALSQS cf_nk_max_global_sync_queues 32768 MAXLATENCY cf_nk_max_preemption_latency_milliseconds 50 NSTREVENT cf_sfm_max_active_signal_requests 2048 NSTRPUSH cf_sfm_max_modules_per_stream 9 NMUXLINK cf_sfm_max_multiplexor_links 1024 NQUEUE cf_sfm_max_queue_pairs 0 PERCENTBUF cf_vmc_percent_memory_for_data_files 100 Regards ----------------------------------------------------------------- Databaseadministrator Poul Pedersen Kuwait Petroleum (Danmark) A/S Hummeltoftevej 49 Mail: pp@q8.dk 2830 Virum Voice: +45 45 98 45 94 Denmark Fax: +45 45 83 16 95 -----------------------------------------------------------------
