What device do you point to for the database

Config: IBM RS/6000 AIX 3.2.4 Informix OnLine (I don't know the version, how do I find it?) I already have the database running, but I think I could have done better in setting up the disk. What device should I be pointing to for informix to use? AIX has lots of "stuff" I can do and set up and point to. I created a logical volume on the disk and am pointing to that. So far all is working. Should I be pointing instead to the rhdiskxx? I don't currently have an administration book for informix. I imagine one can order that from Informix?
